Property in Kastro, Limassol Old Town
The castle quarter — stone lanes, restored carob warehouses, and the densest concentration of restaurants in Cyprus.
Kastro is the oldest part of Limassol, wrapped around the medieval castle where Richard the Lionheart is said to have married. The lanes are narrow, the buildings are stone, and the scale is human in a way no other part of the city manages.
Two decades of restoration turned the carob warehouses and merchant houses into restaurants, galleries and apartments, without erasing what was there.

Living inside a conservation area
Building in Kastro is slow and closely supervised. Façades, heights and materials are controlled, and archaeological checks can delay works. The upside is permanence: the character you buy into cannot be built over.
Practically, expect narrow access, limited private parking and courtyards rather than gardens.
What is on the doorstep
This is the most walkable square kilometre in Cyprus.

- Saripolou square restaurants — 8 minutes
- Municipal market and the promenade — 5 minutes
Who it suits
Buyers who want a city rather than a suburb: downsizers, second-home owners who visit for weeks at a time, and anyone who values a lock-and-leave apartment steps from the water. It suits families with young children less well, because outdoor space is scarce.

- Can you buy new build property in Limassol old town?
- Yes, but sparingly. Most new supply in the castle quarter comes from restoration or small infill schemes, since heights, façades and materials are controlled in the conservation area.
- Is parking difficult in Kastro?
- Street parking is limited. Properties with a dedicated space or access to the nearby public car parks are worth prioritising.
