Furnishing a Mediterranean home
Sun, salt and humidity are hard on interiors. Choosing for those conditions is most of the job.

Fabrics and finishes
Direct sun fades textiles quickly. Choose solution-dyed acrylics or heavy linens in undyed tones for anything near glazing, and keep saturated colours away from south and west windows. Leather dries and cracks under UV; treat it as an interior-only material.
Plan for the veranda first
From May to October the veranda is the main room. Budget for a proper outdoor dining table, comfortable seating with quick-dry cushions, shade you can adjust, and lighting warm enough to sit under. Internal furniture can be lighter and more modest as a result.
Lighting
Daylight is handled by the architecture; artificial light is where atmosphere is made. Use several low-level sources at 2700K rather than a single bright ceiling fitting, put everything on dimmers, and add task lighting at the kitchen counter and beside each bed.
Storage and maintenance
Salt air and dust require more cleaning than inland climates. Closed storage keeps textiles and electronics in better condition, and washable covers repay their cost within two summers.
A realistic budget
For a two-bedroom home finished to a good standard, plan €25,000–€45,000 to furnish completely, including outdoor furniture, window treatments, lighting and soft furnishings. Doing it in two phases — essentials first, then the pieces you choose slowly — usually produces a better result than a single package.
